Target Audience
The target audience for horror films is usually a male audience aged between 16-24, the male audience can interact with the characters on the screen where as the famle audeince does interact with the audience but in a different way, the female audience are a bit more screamish amd the male like that sort of thing.
The first thing that the audience sees is an establishing shot of the rail way station, with a train that has just left, with this first establsihing shot we get to see where this first scene is taking place.
We then get a low angle shot of the top of a flight of stairs which lead on to the platform and we hear football chants as the camera zooms, as the camera is zooming further into the shot we then see a mob of football fans running up singing these chants and we see one of them who seems to be the leader kick a can out of the way. And then they are dribbling it up the platform passing a person who is propbably thinking what on earth they are doing.
Then we get a Long shot of them on the platform and the Leader kicks the can off the platform on the track and his mate who he was with celebrates.
We then get a a mixture of a long shot a two shot and a over the shoulder shot of the people who are on the other side of the platform.
Then another over the shoulder shot of them looking at these people from the other side. The leader of them then starts taking the mick out of them and then his friends laugh. He then asks if he is lost. Then the leader of the other side starts shouting abuse at the main leader. We then found out that they are totenham fans and that they are one of the most hated firms around london.
In my media group we used the dynamic camera shots and angles very well which presented a very succsesfull left out sceane in which cory was the victim, the specific shots that we used was an over the shoulder shot which gives the audiance a strong effect and a point of view shot of what cory has been seeing during the sceane. We then used a tracking shot of the antagonist group walking away from cory the outkast showing the audiance the perspective of the antagonist group, we also used close up shots of the 4 characters to show the emotions that were happening throuought the seane espessially cory the outkast of the group giving the audiance an insight of cory's extreame emotions as shown with a worry face during the end of the sceane.
The weaknesses of our sceane would be ryans take on being fustrated with cory's persistance of trying to be involved with the group as ryan fustratingly ran towards cory with next shot reverse shot not having him in the sceane with cory, not showing the audiance a flowing sceane. We could improve this by have a fast paced tracking shot of ryan moving towards cory's worry face giving the audiance a real perspective of the sceane.
The first scence is an Establishing shot of a person riding a horse with another horse. In the background we can hear the noises of the horses houves walking along. The music playing over the background is a western style of music and it is picking up the pace as the begining of the film goes on.There is a shot of an owl and the camera pans around and there is the rider again and this time he is closer. The music then dies as it is showing this shot of the rider and it then starts playing a choir of what sounds like women, this is relevant to the film because it 'sister sara' is a nun and the music relates back to the church. Then the next shot is a rear shot of the horses and the music then starts up again at a fast tempo. We get a shot of the horses treading in water and the camera rises which allows to follow the rider riding off in the distance. From this we get an establishing shot and this may be giving the audience and idea that the rider is riding on in to the distance either not knowing where he is going and is just going randomly or if he is on a mission on getting somewhere seeing that he has a spare horse.
Another shot and it is tracking a fish and then the rider appears in the wood. We now are getting the impression that the rider is on a Journey.
First two minutes of the film can be found here. (I started after the titles)
Fistful of Dollars is a Western Style film. In the first two minutes the audience must be very curious on to what is going on because there is not really any speaking and there isnt any speaking which is in English. There is the Music which is still being slowly played which was on when the titles were being Shown at the begining. The first shot we get is a long shot showing what is the Hero in the film on his Horse riding into a small town. With this music still being played it makes the audience think that something could happen very soon. A child runs out from a house and runs across the court yard, the 'Hero' (clint eastwood) and this childs eyes meet. The child then jumps into a house. Still the tension is being built up on the audience. The last bit of the music got played as their eyes both met.
We here a rough voice shouting at this child and the child is sounding sad and might even be crying. Then the childruns out of the house and there is a shot of Clint looking over the Well where he is drinking and watches what is going on. The childs crying because louder and he falls over just out side of the house. The Audience still has not seen this man who is shouting at him.
The first two minutes of Enemy at the gates really builds tension up right from the start. Russian Soldiers are being rushed on to boats giving the viewer the impression that they are heading out to War as you hear gun shots and men shouting. Patriotic music is being played in the background giving the viewer the idea of the of this War. The next scene is them out at sea and there are body parts floating in the ocean and the music is still playing. They then do a shot of the Hero looking all baffled, confused and a bit scared on what is going on. With bombs being dropped and gun shots all then men on board the boat are being told orders by we assume the Captain or General, we then get a shot of bombs being dropped right by the boats, so we can see that the enemy is attacking and that there is a War going on at that minute. While these orders are being said the men are all still looking around for where the aircraft are and they here a bomb being dropped and it lands right beside them with a series of other bombs going off they all duck as they do not want to be hit. Still the Commander is shouting these orders at the soldiers through a mega phone oblivious to the fact that are probably not taking them in as they are all alert for planes which could end their lives. The scenes through out are all short and quick so we get a large view of what is actually going on and see whats going on from their perspective. Another shot of a bomb gets dropped and a boat explodes. We then get the over the shoulder view of the airplane as it sprays its bullets at the boats and men duck down and get hit in the back or in their neck. Commanders around the boat are trying to shoot these aircraft down with their machine guns thinking that it makes a difference but really them standing there is a recipe for getting killed.
After a series of more gun fire, bombs being dropped and deaths on the boat, men decide to go over board, however the commanders etc, tell them to stay and get back on the boat with guns pointing at them, these men were abandoning their country and so the commanders shot them as they were acting cowardly.
We get the sense right from the start that the genre of this film is war and that the conventions of this Genre are blood, weapons, death etc. The first two minutes will not bore the viewer because of these quick shots and events that are going on in the film and now that they know the face of the Hero.
